🧭 More About Grants: Explore Beyond Our List

At zPods Sleep Foundation, we’re committed to helping families find the financial support they need — and that doesn’t stop with the grants listed on our site.

In addition to the national and organizational grants we share, you can also explore local and regional funding opportunities. Many community foundations, school districts, and state programs offer assistance tailored to families like yours.Grants typically fall into two categories:

  • Diagnosis-Based Grants
For individuals with specific medical or developmental conditions, such as autism, sensory processing disorder, or ADHD.
  • Income-Based Grants
For families meeting certain income eligibility thresholds, regardless of diagnosis.

🔍 Tip

  • Searching terms  "special needs grants [your state]" or "autism family assistance [your city]" can lead to new resources.
  • Some grants are diagnosis-based (autism, sensory processing disorder), others are income-based
  • You may need to apply to more than one — that’s okay!
  • Don’t be afraid to call the organizations directly and ask: "Do you help with sleep-related equipment?"

Grant Case Study: How a St. Louis Family Funded Their zPod

We understand that navigating the grant application process can feel overwhelming — especially if you’re just starting out. That’s why we want to share a realistic, step-by-step example of how a family in St. Louis, Missouri, successfully secured funding for their child’s zPod through local nonprofit grants.

Meet the Thompsons: A Real Example
The Thompsons’ 7-year-old son, Daniel, was diagnosed with autism and experienced severe sleep disturbances. Insurance would not cover sleep-related equipment, including the zPod bed. Their goal is to secure funding assistance for a zPod through nonprofit grants available in Missouri.

  • What They Did
    1. Collected required documents including Diagnosis paperwork, Therapist’s letter (explaining need for a sleep pod) and Invoice from zPods
    2. Researched local grant options— They searched online for “autism equipment funding Missouri” and found several helpful programs
    3. They applied to a grant programand  submitted Daniel’s medical documents, financial need details, and a support letter to Variety – The Children’s Charity.
